I was sad to read that Karolina Larusdottir died last month. I very much admire her images, especially her prints. I love her characters, the curiosity about their lives aroused by their tableaux ... what stories could they tell? What stories are they telling?

These are wonderful. I had not come across Larusdottir's work before so thank you for posting. At first I thought I could see a resemblance with Paula Rego's work, but looking closer, I am not so sure...
ReplyDeleteYes, Eirene, I have Karolina Larusdottir in the same category of favourites as Paula Rego and Ana Maria Pacheco. It's that dreamlike storytelling/memories aspect which attracts me as well as their styles. You are right, though, they are similar but also very much strongly themselves.
