Sunny name day

I am neither saintly nor religious, but I have always remembered with pleasure celebrating my name day as a child.  This wondrously stern depiction is a drawing for a mosaic by Nicholas Roerich, and somehow it captures my outlook these days on the doings of the humans who run the planet.
On the other hand, it is a sunny day, I have lots to read and to make, and personally have lots to look forward to.

Happy name day, Olga! Any cake and flowers?

That was a tradition in Finland too but we didn't keep it up in Canada. I don't even know mine anymore.

No, Marja-Leena, now that my mother has died, there is no-one to remember. I celebrate quietly in thought, and enjoy just doing that.

I can only say --snort-- (in reference to the image, not to your name day).

Thank you Eirene.

June, she is rather wonderful, isn't she!
