It has been too too long since I last went North to Scotland. Not since April 2005, in fact. Now we are just about to set off for a week on Skye, with a couple of days of exploration on the way up and again on the way back down to what many Scots call the 'soft' South. I do miss mountains, and empty roads (apart from sheep, that is) - let's see if I've become too soft for the weather!
In preparation I am reading Neal Ascherson's Stone Voices: The search for Scotland, and my stitching will be occupied with the designs above and below.
