Another stunning catalogue

I recently read that there was a Louise Bourgeois exhibition on in Venice - one dedicated to her fabric work, and knowing that I had no hope of seeing the show I immediately tried to find out if there would be a catalogue. Yes, I splashed out on Louise Bourgeois: The Fabric Works with barely a hesitation, and how right I was. It is a magnificent publication with fabulous large photos, and there is so much more work and of greater diversity than I had known.

Now I find that the show is on in London. I'm not going to be able to get there myself, and am perfectly happy with the catalogue. But I thought that perhaps someone reading this might be able to see the exhibition at Hauser + Wirth.

These pieces are all by Louise Bourgeois, and I find them a further fascinating insight into her psyche. I have been lucky to acquire really inspirational books in this past year while my feet have been perforce nailed to the floor.

That does look stunning! I'm not at all familiar with Bourgeois' fabric works. I can just imagine how inspiring this would be for you, Olga.

I had not been aware of how many 'flat', or 2D fabric works she made, being more familiar with the sculptural pieces. This whole span of works is fascinating.

I think you are becoming my personal librarian -- your recommendations are starting to pile up and this one on Bourgeois is irresistible.

Gotta get back to Portland so I can get to Powell's!

Looks like a very interesting book, I love Louise Bourgeois' work especially her drawings and 2D work. Pity you couldn't have nipped over to Venice to see the exhibition!

June, yes, I suspect that buying books will be a vice with me till I drop off the perch!

Jacqui - a trip to Venice would have been very pleasant indeed.

I have just stumbled upon your blog and this post is fascinating.
I love how Bourgeois has placed her fabrics together, the patterns and colours.
